Puerto Rico is an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/oia\/islands\/politicatypes\">unincorporated territory<\/a> of the United States and has full access to the U.S. banking system \u2013 just like any U.S. state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How are Stern Bank and <em>Stern International Bank LLC<\/em> related?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cStern Bank\u201d is the trading name for <em>Stern International Bank LLC<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which banks are eligible for an ABA routing number?<\/strong><br \/>\nAn ABA routing number will only be issued to a federal or state-chartered financial institution eligible to maintain an account with the U.S. Federal Reserve.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Are you FDIC insured or insured in any other respect?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">No.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Do clients need to make in-person visits to open accounts?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn most cases, accounts can be opened without requiring that the client visit our offices in Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I visit the bank personally?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, the bank accepts appointments in Puerto Rico. Our decision is final.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">What is the timeline for setting up my account?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>Once all documents have been provided, the Onboarding Department usually reviews the application within three business days. (All corporate and identification documents, which may cause a delay to your application if you do not have these readily available, are required.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><strong>Do documents need to be notarized or apostilled?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Official translations must be notarized. \u00a0Stern can accept documents in English and Spanish without notarized translations.
